If you visit only one place in Oman, it will likely be Muscat. This vibrant city boasts forts, palaces, museums, and bustling markets, ensuring something for everyone. While the interior of the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace is off-limits, you can still head to the harbor for an up-close view of this architectural marvel.

Standing guard over the palace are the iconic twin forts, Al Jalali and Al Mirani, now museums open to the public. Non-Muslim visitors are also welcome to explore the awe-inspiring Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque during most mornings, where they can admire its magnificent crystal chandelier, marble wall panels, and the world’s second-largest Persian carpet.
