Legal Requirements

If you are an Omani national or resident, the following documents are required to rent a car in Oman:

1. Oman Driving License
   • Must be a valid and current Omani driving license.
2. Oman Residential ID Card
   • This is required for residents of Oman.
3. Credit Card
   • A valid credit card in the name of the person renting the vehicle is mandatory for booking.
4. Residential Visa (if applicable)
   • In some cases, a residential visa may also be acceptable, but it’s best to confirm this with the rental agency.

Foreign nationals and tourists visiting Oman will need the following documents to rent a car:

1. Home Country Driving License
   • Your home country’s valid driving license is required for renting a car in Oman. Please ensure it’s in English or Arabic. If it’s in a different language, an official translation may be needed.
2. Passport
   • A valid passport is required to verify your identity.
3. Visa
   • A tourist or entry visa to Oman is required.
4. Credit Card
   • A valid credit card in the name of the renter is required for booking and payment purposes.
5. International Driving Permit (IDP)
   • If your home country’s driving license is not in English or Arabic, or if it’s from a country that does not have a reciprocal agreement with Oman, you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your original driving license.
